FC BLOXWICH LIONS 0 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 4

This was a game played in freezing conditions, however the Lions played well with a shortage of players. Lions dominated the first half but somehow Cresswell found a way through just before half time. With thanks to Josh Dowen for standing in , in goal but unfortunatley came off unjured taking Lions down to ten men. Man of the match Nathan Elson finished the game in goal after an outstanding performance in defence. The other star player being Craig Yarnall for once again his work rate throughout the game                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       16/11/08

GREAT BARR HARRIERS 8 FC LOXWICH LIONS 0

A dissapointing result for Lions  despite good performances and hardwork from starplayers Jack Clew and Nathan Elson.

WEDNESBURY RANGERS 4 FC BLOXWICH  LIONS 2

This was a much closer game than the scoreline shows. Lions were much the better team in the first half with some lovely attacking football been played from back to front. Starman Shane Holmes superbly struck two well taken penalties to take Lions into the lead at the break. Rangers came out much stronger in the second half. Despite man of the match  defender Keegan Bissell trying hard to hold off the Rangers attack, they went on to win. Lions lack of fitness showed towards the end of the game.

DANESMORE DIAMONDS 4 FC BLOXWICH LIONS 8

Lions took control of the game early on, with an opening goal from man of the match Liam Buchanan, who went on to get a hat trick. Other goals coming from Toby Phillips, Pat Parker, Mitch Carter, Craig Yarnall and the other star player of the day Will Cooper, who made some terrific runs down the wing. The weakened Diamonds team came back with several well taken strikes but with thanks to our two stand-in keepers for the day, Toby Phillips and Nathan Elson for making some great stops they did not all make the back of the net. Unfortunately Lions were reduced ten men in the closing minutes of the game but continued the attack.

FC BLOXWICH LIONS 2 SHIRE OAK SCORPIONS 0

A well deserved first victory of the season for Lions. Some lovely football being played and a very entertaining game to watch. The points were secured with goals from Shane Holmes and Liam Buchanan. Defenders Josh Dowen and captain Keegan Bissell both played excellent to earn them both man of the match. Well done to all the lads.

DDC COLTS 1 FC BLOXWICH LIONS 0

This was a closely contested local derby. DDC took control of most of the first half with Lions defence battling hard to keep the scoreline level going into the break. Unfortunatley DDC scored early in the second half. Lions were then on the attack for the rest of the second half putting DDC under alot of pressure but somehow did not get an equalizer. Lions should have been awarded a penalty in the closing minutes of the game but the referee  claims he did not see the incident. Shane Holmes and Craig Yarnall were both named as man of the match for some impressive football throughout the game. It was a good all round team performance.

12/10/08                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 FC BLOXWICH LIONS 1 WEDNESBURY RANGER 3

The first league game saw Lions in for another physical game against Rangers. It was a poor start for Lions with Rangers scoring twice in the first half. With a few changes to the team at half time and early into the second half, Lions looked a far better team. A captains display earned Keegan Bissell man of the match and the other star player being defender Patrick Parker. Some  lovely football was played by Lions in the second half and deservedly so got a late consolation goal from Liam Buchanan.

BRIERLEY HILL BULLETS 6 FC BLOXWICH LIONS 1

With an early goal from Liam Buchanan it looked like Lions were in for a good game. But a fairly quick response from bullets turned the game completely. Lions never got back into it. A dissapointing performance from Lions.

FC BLOXWICH LIONS 0 WEDNESBURY RANGERS 3

Rangers put the pressure on from the start having most of the ball. The game became very physical with some hard challenges going in. Lions did attack but never managed to find the target. Mitch Carter was man of the match for adapting to playing in midfield and Keegan Bissell was awarded man of the match also for his work rate in defence and doing an excellent  job.

BREWOOD JNRS 11  FC BLOWICH LIONS 2

This was a dissapointing start for Lions. We new it was going to be a tough game against a previous Division 2 team but Lions showed lack of fitness, aswell. There were brief glimmers of what Lions are capable of but could not match the pace of Brewood. Consolation goals came from Jack Clews and Liam Buchanan. Despite the score, man of the match awards went to, goalkeeper, Emile Fisher for some brilliant saves. He was bombarded by the Brewood attack for most of the game. The other award went to defender Nathan Elson for making some solid tackles.

FC BLOXWICH LIONS 6 PELSALL VILLA 'A' 1

Lions were the much better team throughout this game. It was an excellent all round team performance. Unusually the six goals came from six different players. Man of the match Will Cooper lead the way, being first to score, followed by goals from Craig Yarnall, Shane Holmes, Cameron Bannister, Tom Wright and Toby Phillips. The defence worked well also with Jack Clews being  the other man of the match for controlling the back line. Well done lads!
